The ‘fear of missing out’ or FOMO is a pervasive apprehension that others might be having rewarding experiences from which one is absent. Many people who join the Peace Corps think they will change the world and find out that the world is there to change them even more. Staying open to letting the world change us even as we try to do good, is a powerful and universally important message. In general, I think we all had or have a vision for her/his life that doesn't exactly pan out. Even if we come close to the mark of who we thought we'd be, life throws us curve balls. It felt like the girls and women I worked with understood this already.
